Happened to me. Circa 1989, got fired because I warned customers, around December 20, that the computers they were buying for their kids, promised for next day delivery, weren't in stock and wouldn't arrive before January.

Boss was listening on a phone extension, interrupted me, closed the sale, and I was let go. Felt good, but I feel sorry for the kids.
